Yesterday, 19th March 2011 was truly a pleasurable and satisfactory time. About 150 students of Kulliyyah of Science gathered at the IIUM field, spent their leisure time together for the precious annual Sciencess Family Day. This event was brought by the Sports and Recreation Bureau of Sciencess with a firm goal which is to strengthen brotherhood or the ukhuwwah among students. It was officiated by the Deputy Dean of Academic, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tengku Haziyamin in a very simple opening ceremony, yet significant and expressive. Through this event, we learned that it is not flesh and blood, but heart that makes us a family.
There were four houses; Coral, Chartreuse, Dodge Blue and Magenta led by Bro. Azri Jalil, Bro. Alias Rahman, Bro. Redhuan, and Bro. Ahmad respectively. All students have shown great fighting spirits throughout all the games and telematches arranged. It was the thrill of the fight that brought loud cheering and noises at the field for the whole 6 hours of the event. Undeniably, sometimes, situations became very uncontrollable, where the rules of the games were broken and the committee’s decisions were being argued. However, those are the things that bind us together and make us smile today. So, I consider those things as small matters because at the end of the day, a loving family should find everything forgivable, isn’t it?

With 3800 marks collected, Dodge Blue has finally been recognized as the Champion of The Year. Congratulations to Dodge Blue for being able to “dodge” from the last place in last year’s family day to the first place this year. The prizes were given away by Bro. Shafiq Abu Hassan – SRC constituent for KOS, Sis. Siti Najihah Yahya – Exco for Sports and Recreation Bureau of SCIENCESS, Sis. Nurul Damia – Vice President of SCIENCESS, and Bro. Ahmad Badruddin Othman – President of SCIENCESS delightfully. Congratulations also to students of other houses. Don’t be frustrated, it’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the games. Kudos and praises to all the organizing committees headed by Bro. Abdul Ghafar Abdul Razak for their efforts in making this event a great success. Alhamdulillah, the ultimate gratitude dedicated to Allah, the Creator of the heavens and the earth.
