IIUM Kuantan East Coast Debating Cup 2013

Greetings and hello everyone!!

We are proudly announcing that the East Coast Debating Cup is back for the second time!!

International Islamic University Malaysia Kuantan Campus (IIUM Kuantan) is excited to convey that we will be organizing our second debating championship, the IIUM Kuantan East Coast Debating Cup 2013 that will be held on 3rd to 5th of May 2013. This sophomore championship will be opened for participation to the public government academic institutions of the secondary and the tertiary in the East Coast region (Pahang, Terengganu and Kelantan ONLY). We will begin sending invitational letters to every institutions in the East Coast region and start the registration process very soon. So mark your calendar and fortify your debate troops!

2 categories will be opened, the Bahasa Melayu and the English categories. For the Bahasa Melayu categories, debat ala parlimen style will be followed while the English categories will follow the Asian parliamentary format (3 vs 3). Team caps for each category is 30 teams (maximum of 3 teams per institution, first come first serve basis). No composite team is allowed. Each institutional branch will be considered as exclusive and separated. It's COMPULSORY for every team to bring along one adjudicator for each team registered (but the more the merrier they say!). One reserve for each team is ALLOWED.

Since the participation for ECD 2013 (short for EAST COAST DEBATING CUP 2013) is now opened for registration. Fill in the forms provided in IIUM Kuantan East Coast Debating Cup official blog and do not let your institution be missed out! The registration will close on 5th April 2013.

Demo Debat Bahasa Melayu

 

Hello SCIENCESS members!

 

          Tanggal 27 Februari yang lalu, kelab Debat Bahasa Melayu (KDBM) IIUM Kuantan telah mengadakan Demo Debat Mahasiswa yang memperdebatkan isu Pendidikan Percuma telah diadakan di Auditorium utama Kuliah Sains. Demo ini diadakan untuk memperkenalkan seni perdebatan dan mencungkil bakat-bakat terpendam di kalangan para pelajar IIUM Kuantan. 
          

          Dimulakan pada pukul 8 malam dan berakhir pada 10 malam, demo debat yang dijalankan oleh ahli kelab selama dua jam ini telah berjaya mempamerkan bakat pendebatan di kalangan ahli kelab KDBM. Demo debat ini telah berjaya menghangatkan malam tersebut apabila isu hangat diperdebatkan.

• KDBM mula bertapak di UIAM kampus kuantan ni sejak tahun 2007, penubuhannya dipelopori oleh Farhaneen Afzal binti Mazlan dan pada tahun 2009, KDBM kuantan pernah menjadi Naib Johan Pertandingan Debat Piala DYMM Sultan Zainal Abidin di UiTM terengganu

"Been involved in debate since my 1st year in Kuantan. Quite late actually. Never win any competition, huhu. Participated twice in Pertandingan Debat Piala Sultan Zainal Abidin, 2010 & 2011 if I'm not mistaken. Lost at quater final in 2010 and in 2011, my teammates and me manage to be on the list of top 5 overal best speakers. Been selected to represent IIUM for Debat Di-Raja 2011 and the only one from Kuantan, all the other were Gombak students. Unfortunately, still doesn't have the luck to win I think that's all it for participation in debate tournament. Erm, also had been the adjudicator for Dean's Cup in CFSIIUm and for Interschool debating championship in IIUM Gombak. Not much thing to be proud of actually. But it was a very good experience for me and for all other members of KDBM actually."

"Join debat pada tahun 2009 with no basic at all..2009 (juara debat uitm-uia bg kategori bahasa malaysia..sy jadi perdana menteri time tu) pastu sy jadi president kelab debat tahun 2010..pernah mendapat tempat ke 7 dalam liga debat uia(gombak+pj+nilai+kuantan). Mewakili uia kuantan dalam pertandingan debat PIDSZA pada tahun 2011 dan berjaya sampai suku akhir..menyertai bnyk demo debat yg dianjurkan oleh uia..dan pada tahun 2012 mewakili uia dalam johor open debate(mendapat pendebat terbaik sidang akhir kelayakkan)."
